Today was the last school day before our two-week break for Chinese New Year, so at CDIS we typically try to do something to emphasize the culture we are living in. This year we took the students on a field trip to the Jinsha Site Museum. This museum is built on a recently discovered dig site of artifacts from the past civilizations of China. The site is only 15-20 minutes from our school, but Sarah and I have not taken the chance to go there until now. This was because we weren’t sure it was worthwhile – some exhibits like this in China aren’t interesting or understandable to us foreigners, and not worth the cost. Such was not the case for this museum. The place held to western standards of scholarship for a museum, the buildings were impressive, and we could read many of the displays, as they were in English. I particularly enjoyed the 4D Theater they had included – a bit corny with the computer animation, but fun nonetheless. It also helped that the school was paying for the tickets, rather than us…
The school day being finished, we are now on a two-week break! More fun times to come…
