It’s been a while since I updated about our time in NY – here’s an update:

After taking an RV trip up to northern California (my first time), Sarah and I took it easy for the next week or so, enjoying July 4th fireworks with a class from church.  We’ve been able to enjoy some great restaurants while in the Santa Rosa area:

Flavor is an amazing place.  I talked about going there on our anniversary; going back was even better.  (Knowing the owners and getting tons of free appetizers helps.)
– The Black Bear Diner is now a series of restaurants on the western side of the US that features traditional family cooking.  When they say their portions are big, they aren’t kidding – my meal was huge, tasty, and not expensive at all.
– Travelling to Oakland to pick up our flight to NY, we stopped at Fenton’s Creamery for a bite.  The food was okay – the ice cream was incredible.  Huge dishes, great taste.

Wow – this seems like a restaurant critic blog.  Moving on: due to a late departure we missed our connecting flight in DC, and rather than wait 12 hours until the next available flight to Syracuse we were able to bump our flight to Binghamton.  That flight was delayed for mechanical issues, but we eventually made it out, and now we are in Vestal!  We will be here for a little less than 4 weeks, with weekend trips to Springfield, Mass., Philadalphia and Indianapolis – we’d love to catch up with people if possible; let us know if you are in any of these areas!
