Hello all – we’ve been having a busy weekend here in China. After our Friday night date, Saturday was the school’s second annual solo/ensemble festival, which Sarah has been organizing.
Things seemed to go off without a hitch; it was fun to listen to and judge the brass section.
The evening was spent at a going-away party for the Spence’s, a family that has spent a good amount of time here in China but will be relocating to Orlando. They have three kids at CDIS, so we are sad to so them go. The party was a good time to say goodbye to them.
We’ve gotten two great pieces of news this week regarding school: first, we applied for a technology grant from Intel – it went through and was accepted for $60,000. We’re thrilled about the new technology we’ll have next year. Also, we found out that we have been given interim accreditation status from WASC – the Western Association of Schools and Colleges – following their visit to our school at the end of March. This is a great thing for us, as we can refer to our school as accredited for the next three years and will not have to do any work on that next year!
