At the end of a very busy week and with more to come this weekend, Sarah and I set aside time tonight to have a date night. We took a cab down to the center of town, where we wanted to check out a newer mall with some things especially worthwhile for us “laowai” (foreigners). After heading to what the mall sign called “fast food of Kentucky,” otherwise known as KFC for a quick bite, we head to the movie theater – a first for us in Chengdu. While we have been interested in the past, the price at the theater we were aware of would be as much as, if not higher than the price for admission in America. When we can get a dvd for $4 or less, it didn’t seem to be worth it. This theater was a little cheaper, but didn’t lose any quality in the process; watching Spiderman 3 in English in the theater was definitely worth it. By the way, Sarah and I highly recommend the movie. Great escapism for those who need it, and excellent themes. After the movie, armed with our frappachinos (Sarah – Carmel; mine – Banana java chip) from the newest two-story Starbucks in China (also in the mall – is this a great place or what!), we find a cab to take us home to an anxious Bailey, who has been sitting in his cage for much too long. Good times!
In other news, Hong Kong is having some issues over some indecent content, as can be seen in this news article. While I don’t agree with the desired response of the group, I certainly don’t disagree about the existence of some terrible stuff in the Word. The Hebrew and Greek cultures were not ones for candy-coating the truth…
