It’s been a couple of weeks since our last post – and lack of time cannot be an excuse; we’ve been off from school for the past two weeks! It has been a relaxing break – here are some highlights:
We spent Christmas at home, but the day after we hopped on a plane to Sanya. We spent five days there, basking in the sun on the beach while at the Universal Resort. We also saw a theater production of the Phoenix (fun, though odd) and traveled to a seashell museum, a butterfly park, and a village of the indigenous people of Hainan – the Li and Miao people. The village was more of a tourist trap, complete with people begging us to take pictures of them and then saying we have to pay for the picture! You can see some of our Hainan pictures here – check back for more! After returning to chilly Chengdu and bringing in the new year with some friends, we haven’t done much at all. We’ve slept in, watched movies, read books, ate candy from our stockings – it’s nice to be on a teacher’s schedule! But tomorrow we head back to school…
